"Most Marvellous Market" in the South West!
Special Events for 2008
Music at the farmers markets 2008
Gloucester Farmers' Market scooped top prize in the "Marvellous Markets" competition organised by the Department of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), the National Farmers' Union (NFU) and the Western Daily Press.
Judges were impressed with it's layout, easy access and diversity of stalls, plus the fact that the farmers' market brings a flavour of the countryside to the center of the city each and every week.
The market has a range
of produce befitting a city, from samosas to apple juice, farmhouse
cheese and sausages to Thai ready meals made with free range chicken from Madgett's Farm. There are plants for the garden,
fresh herbs, locally reared meat, goats cheeses, freshly baked bread
and pastries, seasonal fruit and vegetables, free range eggs, smoked
trout, and much more. We have occasional craft stalls including Slimbridge Soaps.
Each Friday sees a different
selection of stallholders. There are usually around 25 to 30 stalls. Held around the Cross in the City Center, the Gloucester Gate Streets
Farmers' Market is a friendly and colourful event.

We were up and running through the floods crisis, providing fresh and local food and drink and a cheery welcome to the residents of Gloucester during this difficult time.
On Friday 27th July, we served 300 free cups of tea and coffee, and our generous customers made donations totaling£167.76 to the Mayor's Flood Fund.
Many thanks to Frank's Luxury Biscuits for donating cakes and cookies and to staff at Starbucks Gloucester who donated milk and cakes to our free market cafe on Friday 27th July, when the market ran as normal despite the total lack of running water in the City.
THANK YOU ALL FOR BEING SO CHEERFUL AND MAKING SUCH A GREAT MARKET DAY.
