More about the bands;

Bailey's Beads - Baily’s Beads Barn Dance Band is a 4/5 piece band that usually comprises fiddles, piano accordian, keyboard and bass guitar when playing for dances; other instruments being used for other occasions. Affiliated to the E.F.D.S.S. they specialise in British, Irish and American dance music. Based in Stroud, but with band members from Gloucester and Bristol, they  are likely to be seen anywhere in Gloucestershire and neighbouring counties.

La Vielle Rue - a band from Wiltshire that play music in the traditional style of the centre of France.  The music is played on traditional instruments such as the hurdy gurdy, french bagpipes and diatonic accordeon.  The tunes are also used to accompany the dances of the area, the Bourree, Schottish, Polka, Mazurka, and French Waltz, and have evocative melodies and exciting rhythms.

Roy Kirby and the Paragon Jazz Band -

The Roy Kirby Paragon Jazz Band was formed on 19th May 1974, following Roy's love of traditional jazz, blues and skiffle from an early age. With dedicated musicians travelling from all over the country to play in his band it soon achieved a very high standard and they were booked regularly at top jazz venues, such as London's famous '100 Club', Oxford Street. In 1976 they were offered the first of many trips to Europe, where they are now highly respected. Roy turned professional in 1989 to concentrate all his efforts on the band. His search for nice tunes has resulted in them having one of the largest repertoires of any band in the country.

Master of None - A Folk-Rock Duet based in Stroud with a fresh, original sound.
Formed by locally based multi-instrumentalists who encompass guitars, piano, mandolin, bass, sax, flute, percussion and vocals, Master of None produce a rich sound tapestry which takes the listener into the heart of the songs they write and perform.

Milne and James - a guitar and vocals duo originally from the area and now based in Wales.

Ragged and Old Morris Side;  Ragged and Old Morris Men perform traditional Cotswold morris dancing. A subset of the group also does clog dancing as "Inclognito" and we often perform both morris and clogging during a booking. We also do mumming plays at Christmas and can provide a country dance band/ceilidh band called "The Hind-Before Band".

String Along trio of musicians from the Roy Kirby Jazz Band performing accoustic music on string instruments.

Avening Brass Band traditional brass band who often perform at the markets in December playing seasonal Christmas songs.

Also at our markets; We also have occassional demonstrations of traditional woodland crafts at our markets in the warmer months;

Paul Hodgson traditional "bodger" demonstrating the ancient art of green wood working and turning using a "pole lathe" powered soley by foot, as used by woodland workers in native woodlands in the UK.

Phil and Sue Hinton Phil is a conservation woodland manager working at Westonbirt Arboretum and other privately owned native woodland throughout the UK. He uses sustainably sourced local wood to make bowls, boards, garden furniture, planters, climbers and mirrors which are occassionally on sale at Stroud farmers market. Sue makes pretty wooden flowers using green hazel on a traditional wood horse. See them at Stroud in the spring and summer and before Christmas.
