Impartial help and advice for farmers and rural businesses
At a number of seminars we have introduced farmers and producers to business
advice from the Gloucestershire Business Links Agricultural Advice Service
- here's what they offer:
Introduction
Farmers
and land-based businesses are facing the worst agricultural depression
since the 1930’s and need access to impartial help and advice
as never before.
Solutions are not easy to find, but having an experienced adviser
who is deeply involved in agriculture to talk to, and to review plans
with, in confidence
is a good starting point.
We can help by
- providing help and information on diversification projects
- giving advice on new business start-ups
- analysis of your current
trading position
- acting as an impartial
advisers in the process of reviewing an existing business
- finding information on current grant availability
- helping with
business planning
- advising on co-operative ventures
G A R D - Gloucestershire Agricultural & Rural Development Project
G A R D is an initiative that allows groups of farmers
with a mutual interest to get together to develop and research ideas
that they think will help
them develop their businesses by improving what they are already doing
or by adding new techniques or enterprises. Groups are helped in these
activities by two Project Managers based at Hartpury and the Royal Agricultural
College
and an Information Officer at the Royal Agricultural College who will
undertake research on behalf of the groups. for more on GARD click here...
F B A S – Farm Business Advice Service
The F B A S is a DEFRA funded scheme to allow farmers to take professional
advice on the future direction of their business and to review its past
performance in comparison to other similar businesses in the area and nationally.
Any farmer can register with Business Link (Roger Smith on 01242 864147
or Sharon O’Brien on 01242 864163). They will then be sent a list
of consultants from which they can choose a consultant to deliver the work.
The consultant will be expected to examine the last two years accounts
together with the assets of the business and the future plans of the
farming family.
This work is fully subsidised by DEFRA.
